Pain for Public Consumption

Choreography by:
Zakiya Rose
Inspired by the “Wake work,” described in Christina Sharpe’s book Living in the Wake: On Blackness and Being, Pain for Public Consumption depicts a shift in one's relationship with the external world through a series of time warping installations. Delving into the concept of time as it uncovers the realities of generational trauma through high affect juxtaposition, and blunted affect. The audience takes a transformative journey to uncover psychological phenomena, a necessary process for healing and unity.
