“Check your [In]box,” is a segment of a process of self-understanding. Dancers Zakiya Johnson and Delia Ibanez remain conscious of their identity although boxes society puts them in remain inadequate. This is an excerpt of a longer work, and the beginning of a longer journey for not only the dancer’s but the viewers as well. We will begin to explore the boxes we have been put into, put others into and imposed upon ourselves in order to remove their power. We can celebrate our complexity and find comfort in it.
